Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Health (Gerontology-Community Health)
 
Position:
Join a vibrant campus community at West Chester University whose excellence is reflected in its diversity and student success. The Department of Health is seeking an Assistant Professor of Health with expertise and experience in Gerontology and Community Health to join our undergraduate public health and CEPH accredited MPH program. This 9-month tenure-track position offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The starting date will be August 2013.
 
Responsibilities:
Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in: aging-related areas (such as epidemiology of aging, public health and aging, aging and health policy, positive aspects of aging, and death and dying), research methods, biostatistics, evaluation of health programs, and possibly others in related areas. Expectations of the position: Teach distance education courses in addition to face-to-face courses. Engage in peer-reviewed scholarship. Advise graduate and undergraduate students. Provide service to the department, university, profession, and community. Provide leadership in developing new courses and programs in gerontology and community health.
 
Requirements:
Earned doctorate in gerontology or public health/public health education or related field required. ABD will be considered but applicants must provide evidence that they are near completion. Finalists must successfully complete interview process, teaching demonstration, and research presentation. References with contact information will be required prior to interview. Required research, work and teaching experience in gerontology or community health.
 
Preferences:
Preferred: Master of Public Health degree. College level teaching experience including at graduate level.
